Enterprise Estonia runs an English language seminar "The Challenges of Electromobility in the Nordic Countries", to be held on June at the Sokos Hotel Viru, in Tallinn. The aim of this seminar is to attract interest by foreign undertakings towards Estonia's developments in the field of electric vehicles.
Estonia has recently launched several projects in the field of electromobility, giving social workers in local governments 507 Mitsubishi electric vehicles for work-related errands, providing 500 pcivilians with support in purchasing an electric vehicle, and in parallel starting development of a large-scale fast-charging network for electric vehicles.
"These projects will allow Estonia to make a rapid leap in development, in order to become one of the most densely populated countries in the field of electric vehicles and charging stations," Maria Alajõe, Member of the Board of Enterprise Estonia, commented. "The named projects create good preconditions for developing and testing electric vehicle infrastructure in Estonia. The smart grid being developed, combined with our unique IT experience, will give rise to the development of new services in Estonia, thus creating the possibility for a developmental leap in this field," Alajõe explained.
Representatives of foreign undertakings, interested parties and foreign embassies are welcome to attend the seminar. Estonian specialists and undertakings related to this topic have also been invited to participate.
The seminar will be held the night before the Tallinn - Monte Carlo Electric Race. The opening presentation will be made by Cathy Rodgers, Vice President of IBM, who will introduce and explain IBM's activities in the direction of a smart planet. Secondly, Jarmo Tuisk, representative of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, will present an overview of the actions planned in the field of electric vehicles in Estonia. The seminar will be ended by a panel led by Christer Asplund, from Sweden, a mentor with a long-term experience in the field of electric vehicles. The panel will discuss the issues of sustainability of electric vehicles in the Nordic countries.
This seminar is the first step for Estonia to introduce itself to the world as a developer of electromobility and to offer ideas on how to integrate the field of electric vehicles with electronic and mobile services, as well as with the development of smart grids.
